bio

Anne was born in Washington, DC. Quiet summers on Ocracoke Island, NC nurtured a lifelong interest in the natural world. Anne studied printmaking at Carleton College, and design at the University of Minnesota. She is a member of both the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).

She and her family live in Garner, North Carolina, where she creates a monthly nature activity for the WILD Notebook, which is the children’s section of Wildlife in North Carolina magazine. She often writes and illustrates for the WILD Notebook as well, and her plover illustrations won first place in the SCBWI 2007 Magazine Merit Competion, Illustration Category.

Anne’s artwork is featured in environmental education publications and exhibits throughout North Carolina. (The North Carolina Zoological Park, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, Wake County’s Nature Parks and in many North Carolina State Parks.)
